The Natural History Museum of Crete –University of Crete is the scientific advisor of the geopark for the natural environment. The Museum elaborates basic and applied research on the geo-and biodiversity of Eastern Mediterranean with emphasis on Aegean and Crete. It hosts a great number of collections, whereas it has developed many supportive facilities like library, GIS office, Molecular Biology lab etc. It also serves as environmental advisor of regional and local authorities. The Museum support all kind of educational activities of the University of Crete in graduate and post-graduate level.
It has developed many temporary and permanent exhibitions and has designed and implemented its temporary exhibition of about 4000 m2 on the Environment of Eastern Mediterranean at the old Electric Power station in the old harbor of Heraklion.
The representative of Museum at the Management Committee Dr Ch. Fassoulas has been elected as vice-president of the committee.
